ORCHARDLEIGH Golf and Country Club played host to this year’s annual golf day which saw players and members from Frome RFC taking part.
Organisers say, “A fun day was had by all, with various skill levels on show. The players returned to the Frome RFC clubhouse for the day’s awards and some much-needed food. A special thanks to Dan for organising the food with the fantastic The Royal Bengal, Frome. Thank you also to our hosts at Orchardleigh.”
The day’s awards went to Leon Kelly, best player; Geoff Taylor, longest drive; Mark O’Shea, closest to pin; Daren Rollason, amateur of the day; Henry Bull’ worst golfer.
Rugby Senior head coach update
FROME Rugby men’s senior coach, Dominic Jones, has provided an update as the men prepare for the upcoming season.
Dominic said, “As pre-season comes to an end and we now start to focus on the leagues ahead, I want to reflect on what’s been a super pre-season of training. The boys have worked hard, the effort has been excellent and so has the attitude. Obviously due to the hard ground, the match ready rugby has taken a hit, but we feel we are in good shape leading into the start of the season.
“Originally Saturday the 3rd September was meant to be the league opener for the 1st XV and 2nd XV as well as the start of the warmup games for the 3rd XV, and this is what we have been geared towards; however, due to the unfortunate news that Old Patesians RFC have pulled out of the league, this means there will be no fixture for the 1st XV.
“This gives an extra week to get things ready, and it also allows us to focus on the 2nd XV kicking their season off, and the boys getting a well needed run around in the 3rds.
“The planned VP & Members Lunch will now change to September 17th when the Frome RFC 1st XV welcome Keynsham RFC to The Lane. We will still have a jam-packed day on Saturday September 3rd with our 2nd XV & 3rd XV in action, the club will also be hosting Lisa’s Army and WHY for their fun day. In the evening there’s Live Music from Best Before Midnight – starting at 8pm.”
