REPRESENTATIVES from local firm AJ Charlton & Sons Limited were invited to the Coronation Festival staged in the gardens of Buckingham Palace recently.
The occasion marked the 60th anniversary of the coronation, and the event was attended by HM The Queen, HRH The Prince of Wales together with other members of the royal family.
AJ Charlton & Sons has been part of the Frome community for well over 100 years and still has its saw mills at Buckland Down just outside the town. Representing the firm at the palace were chairman Mr ‘AJ’ Charlton and the company’s sales and marketing manager for gates & fencing, Matt Charlton. As well as affording the opportunity to meet with and speak to members of the royal family, the Festival also hosted an evening gala with performances from the likes of Katherine Jenkins and Katie Melua.
The unique event was hosted by the Royal Warrant Holders Association, of which Charltons have been a member since they were granted the Royal Warrant in 2000, having supplied gates and fencing to the royal households for a number of years.
Mr ‘AJ’ Charlton said, “It is a huge honour to have been invited. We remain extremely proud to be Royal Warrant holders, recognising the Royal Warrant as a treasured and respected mark of excellence and quality.”
